FHA loans are guaranteed by Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and are for your primary home. 3.5% is the minimum down payment on a FHA loan and when you put less than 10% down the mortgage insurance will stay on these loans their whole life. The FHA loan does come with a lower rate, higher debt to income allowance, and lower credit score minimums and requirements than conventional loans. FHA loans can be your best option for your primary residence!
